Japan’s labor market is changing day by day
Japan’s labor market continues to change rapidly. For the Japanese economy to continue growing, even in the midst of a changing industrial structure, advances in technology and a shrinking labor pool, will require major changes in what “work” looks like in the future. We at the PERSOL Group are attempting to address this issue in two ways: by achieving greater diversity in working styles, and by placing the right people in the right jobs.
Bringing work styles into a new era
These days, many people live to be 100. School, employment, marriage, childbirth, child rearing, caring for elderly family members, retirement: As people move through these stages of life, the way they work also changes to fit them.
In the Showa and Heisei eras in Japan, when corporate policy didn’t match with a worker’s personal desires, many times the worker’s only option was to give up on getting their intentions through. However, in the Reiwa era, it is becoming more common for people to change their workplace or work style to fit the way they live.
Along with those kinds of changes, if we could remove the barriers separating permanent from temporary employment, or full-time from part-time, making it normal for individuals to choose for themselves the work style best suited to their respective life stages, we might further expand what “work” looks like not only for women and seniors, but for all those facing a variety of restrictions.
Aiming for a future where diverse work styles shine
In line with these changes in society, the PERSOL Group is going beyond the framework of the individual services we have provided to date and committing to work toward redefining “work” for the new age. The companies in the PERSOL Group are working together to offer one-stop access to services geared toward gaining acceptance for a diversity of working styles. We act as a close partner by assisting individuals in finding work that matches their needs at various points across their lifetime and helping all people to take the initiative in making choices for their lives.
In order for all people around the world to experience “Work, and Smile” the PERSOL Group views it as its mission to transcend gender, age, nationality, and all other sorts of limitations and enrich society so that all work leads to lives of happiness.
