PERSOL Group: Declares Goal of Carbon Neutrality by 2030
Aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and environmental impact while contributing
to decarbonization of society through personnel and consulting services
The comprehensive personnel service provider PERSOL HOLDINGS CO., LTD. (based in Minato-ku Tokyo; President and CEO: Takao Wada, hereinafter “PERSOL”) announces that it aims to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions from its Group-wide business activities*1 by FY2030, based on a recognition that environmental conservation is one of the Company’s management issues and carrying out environmentally-oriented business activities.
*1 Greenhouse gas emissions from business activities refers to the total of scope 1 and scope 2 emissions. From FY2023 onwards PERSOL will work toward establishing targets for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions including Scope 3 emissions.
Establishment of Carbon Neutral Target
PERSOL Group has set a “Carbon Neutral” target as a target related to greenhouse gas emissions to aim for net-zero greenhouse gas* emissions from its business activities* by FY2030. By implementing energy conservation initiatives in our offices and utilizing renewable energy, we will work to realize the common global goal of a carbon-neutral society. We will also study setting emission reduction targets progressively from FY2023 onward, including for Scope 3 emissions.
PERSOL Group’s Response to Climate Change:
PERSOL Group has endorsed the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosure (TCFD) in March 2022. In accordance with TCFD recommendations, we have also started the disclosure of information on “Governance,” “Strategy,” “Risk management,” and “Metrics and targets” relating to climate-related risks and opportunities from May 2022. Going forward, we will continue to strengthen our governance, proactively disclose information, and improve the scope and accuracy of our disclosures in accordance with the TCFD recommendations.
Following the Group Vision “Work, and Smile,” the PERSOL Group is contributing to the realization of a sustainable society by creating a society in which all people can work safely and securely. To achieve this, we recognize environmental preservation as one of the Company’s management issues and carry out corporate activities that take into account environmental considerations to reduce our environmental impact.
■ Initiatives to Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions
The annual greenhouse gas emissions from PERSOL’s business activities have been estimated at approximately 25,000 tons of CO2 equivalent (FY2020 results), the majority of which are associated with the use of electricity and fuel combustion when using vehicles. PERSOL is working on a range of initiatives to reduce these emissions.
- In order to reduce electricity consumption at our more than 200 offices across Japan, we are working to conserve energy and resources at these offices by developing environmentally friendly offices and incorporating environmental considerations into the workplace culture.
- By utilizing ICT to promote teleworking among our employees, which contributes to a reduction in the number of commutes and the amount of office electricity used, we aim to combine a reform of working styles with a reduction in CO2 emissions. We are also studying switching the electricity used in our offices to renewable energy sources.
- The Asia Pacific SBU has already achieved carbon neutrality at several sites through initiatives such as switching to renewable energy sources. Asia Pacific SBU plans to further enhance its efforts by expanding the use of renewable energy and switching some company vehicles to electric models.
In conjunction with the above efforts to reduce our carbon footprint, we will also leverage PERSOL’s technology and know-how to the maximum extent to help achieve a sustainable society.

In the temporary staffing and placement services, we aim to develop personnel with expertise that will contribute to decarbonization and climate change, and, by providing human resource mobility support services, including temporary staffing and placement services, to work together with our customers in their efforts to decarbonize their businesses.
